Leaking PAS box - a few questions

Hello fellow Rover drivers,

with the winter coming i will try to take care of my badly leaking PAS box on my 1971 3500 Auto. I have a few questions regarding the box:
As far as i understand the main culprits for a leaking box are the two O-rings on the upper and lower side of the box. Is it possible to change these rings in situ without removing the complete box from the car?
Does JR Wadham or some other supplier still carry an overhaul gasket and ring set for the PAS boxes? I can't find that anywhere and would like to buy one.

And the last question: Since i have a good replacement box, i would like to know if i have to check if the boxes are the same. Did Rover use different PAS boxes over the years in their 3500ers?

How much time would a seasoned mechanic need to replace the box?
As usual: Any help is appreciated big time.

Greetings from Germany

Thank you Chris, i contacted Mark and he will have that seal kit in stock again soon. I will order one from him....
That is one point done from the job list :)

Although the other questions regarding types of box and necessary repair time are still pending....

Thanks for the link Olaf. My PAS box is leaking as well, not entirely sure where from but I managed to source a non leaking replacement but I'm In two minds whether I should fit new seals to this before I swap them over just to be on the safe side. When you do the job let me know how you get on and how tricky it is to change the seals.

Hi Mike,

will be a typical winter job but i am in the same situation like you: a good replacement box sits here but will certainly be overhauled with new seals before beeing fitted.
I will post something when i know how it worked out....
