Kickdown cables

BW65, replaced kickdown cable, adjusted so heel of cam contacts the downshift valve at closed throttle. Having a look at the other four or so boxes sitting around, note that none allow the cam to return to this position with the crimp in as supplied position, and no, clearly the crimps are all untouched. So I assume once I adjust the sleeve, I can expect a similar situation that the cam is already acting on the valve, and the initial position is just the starting position? Factory Jag manual I looked at, indicated it should stay at the initial position when carbs released which doesn't seem possible...Thanks.

That's how it should be. Touching at rest, and moving away the moment the throttle is opened.

If that is the case it's because the crimps are all fitted in the wrong place.

That shouldn't be the case.

See two previous answers above.

Thanks for your help, confirms that one, I was thinking they must be crimped in the wrong spot, but there was no sign they had ever been tampered with, just the little factory dimple.
