Total capacity is about 7 litres IIRC, so a Gallon will be more than enough to get it back up to level now, and leave plenty for future top-ups.
It won't be that there's no fluid in there whatsoever, (it's not possible to get it all out), it will just be that the level is too low to register on the dipstick.
