Just spoken to JT, he wasn't aware it was on Amazon, but it is imminent.

James will be selling it directly from his website when he has stocks, more to follow.

The book is also available from the P6 Rover Owners Club details as below:

In the 18 years since this book was first published, it’s very satisfying to record that more information has come to light. So, in preparing this second edition during 2011, I decided to update and amend where possible. A lot of people have contributed new information in one way or another over the years.
Readers familiar with the first edition may notice that the chapter about buying and running a P6 has been left out of this update. It was, in any case, out of date because more and different problems have come to light as the cars have become older and, more importantly, omitting those pages provided the space for a comprehensive appendix of updates. Appendices: A) Technical specifications, B) Vehicle identification, C) Main production changes, D) Production figures, E) Paint and trim options, F) P6 prices in the UK, G) P6 Rovers at Earls Court, H) Performance figures.
James Taylor

Think I could only have been a few minutes behind you Dave! :D

Looking forward to that dropping on the mat after also searching fruitlessly for a non-mega£££ original.

This has been on my shopping list for a long time, but I have only ever seen it offered for around sixty quid, which I couldn't swallow. Pleased to see it will be available for a much more sensible price, and with updated contents to boot.

The book is basically a reprint of the original book, minus the irrelevant-in-2012 last chapter.

The original book, sadly, suffered from some flawed research (not by James, but by the originators), with some major inaccuracies.

The last chapter tries to amend this, and involved a lot of recent field research, we hope it's worthy. :)

Amazon do have an original available at £70!!!
Only 1 niggle,,,Its a shame the reprint is not a hardback!! :(

As with all things done to a price that works!
Would imagine it would add a fair bit to the production costs!!!
Like all things modern,They cant seem to make em like they used to,just like cars!

I have an immaculate copy of the original for almost 20 years now. You see i was attracted to the P6 long before i managed to own one.
Those were the days before the internet, and ordering a book from abroad was not so simple.
I am not too worried about the loss of the hardback, but i honestly think that the front cover photo of the original (even with an almond 2200 TC!) was way more stylish than the new one with all that on your face blue.
However, the extra effort put into history research is more than worth on the last edition!

out of interest, what was the last chapter in the original?

Glad this has been re-released, all I could find is the P5 one, its as common as muck here in Oz...

Now on Amazon. I hope to be able to give you a link to get it direct from the man himself shortly.

The new revised edition has a sizeable contribution from Chris York, Al Worsfold and myself.

More to follow

Thanks
Nick

I may have to pick up a copy.. although I still have the original version on my shelf. So, two questions..

1) Is OXC still mentioned? ;)

2) Where's the Kindle version? I'd like to have an ebook version for my tablet.. and am surprised that all new books don't come with that option.

Chris

The original last chapter was basically a buyers guide. Where to look for rust, what bits are hard to find etc and a mention of the P6ROC. This was all written in the late '80s so it is largely irrelevant now that the cars aren't 15-20 years old anymore. And more up to date guides can be found through the clubs and classic car mags.
Chris, afaik the rest of the book is untouched. Any updates and ammendments were added in the new chapter referring back to the relevant page.

I ordered a copy on Amazon, only to be told their is a delay so won't be sent on time. Just had an email from them saying it has been dispatched. :D

Can't believe the prices quoted for the First edition, I appreciate its out of print and therefore rare but I was obviously lucky picking up one on e-bay last year for £35, and to top it off it looks brand new :D Until I saw this thread I wasn't aware of a new edition so I shall be ordering mine now before that too becomes a collectors item!
