Jaguar Vs Rover Factory films

I came across this film of the Jaguar factory today. It reminded me of the Rover P6 development film also on YouTube. One thing that struck me was how antiquated the Jaguar factory seemed compared to the Rover factory. Still, its cool seeing two very different manufacturers doing things their way.

Remember the Mk.II Jag cost roughly the same as the Rover 2000 here in the US when the P6 was released.

Thank you so much for putting the rover film on , as i worked with some of those guys , the two foremen in dark blue coats the first one Bill Macloud became daytime superintendent over the whole p6 production ,the second Dennis Grant became the nights superintendent , the guy with the bald head on stage one came from the USA so his nick name was "the yank" I worked with him in the test shop ...pull the hood , mind that fender, its in the trunk took some getting used to .
Only a small part of the production was shown in the film , but it took me right back to a place that was a pleasure to go to work.

Started on the assemble line (stage 2 thats from were the base unit drops on to the track to were its roller tested ,no panels fitted) then became a factory floater ,a stand in for anyone absent ,ended up learning most jobs, final ending up in the Rover test track shop. Rover were so far ahead of the rest ! they were always thinking ahead even playing around with plastic gear box casings with ceramic bearings that never made it . I have put a few more story's in the welcome section

Thanks Dave,

What fascinating reading! I left a comment on there about my 69 NADA 2000TC that you might be able to shed light on.

Best,

Steven
