It's back!

Starts at 15k then drops to 14500 then dissapears again for another while before it bobs up again.

it looks a nice car, personally not a fan of the colour, however it does seem slightly over priced, or there is something very wrong with it, as i think ive seen it advertised for around 2 years now

Go figure?

You have to admit that the seller has a touch of class, who would have thought to put a flat cap on the dashboard to highlight elderly ownership? Brilliant really.
Mind you he could have at least gone to the trouble of getting an 80 yr old dear to sit in the pasenger seat with a yorkshire terrier on her lap, that would have made the car look like nearly £10,000 worth of loveliness in anybodys book.
Im now considering freighting my V8 out there, I reckon the cost of shipment, storage the other side etc would be well worth it If i could get a good few grand for it Down Under. Yep, I can deffo see a fair profit on my £750 purchase price. :D

I dont get it. You replace a lovely straight 6 with a V6 with little more power then spend a shed load trying to get a whole 15BHP extra out of it.
It would have been so much nicer with the straight 6, triple webers, strait fru exhaust and a bonnet not ruined by a shonky scoop.
Each to their own tho.

That Rover is reasonably expensive, certainly compared to most other Rovers on offer. Being in original condition brings with it an additional asking price, but also a lot of additional expense for the new buyer further down the line.

Compared to Australian cars of that era and indeed many European cars, the Rover is quite inexpensive by comparison, even though it is in almost all areas a far superior car.

Having owned a MKII a MKIII and a few MKIV's I would have to say that whilst the straight 6 engine of the MKIII was a nice enough engine it certainly had no get up and go and any quoted HP figures were not a true reflection of reality, on the other hand the V6 was a stuner for power rev-abiltiy and excitment and a real performance and power upgrade on the origional. Still wouln't want to own it however as the MKIII were a truely souless and dissapointing car for me even though the gearbox was an upgrade to earlier cars.

The Mk111 Zephyr engine was strangled by an exhaust manifold made out of a bit of old gas pipe
With 3 SU's and a proper exhaust manifold it could release some serious power. I've forgotten the name of the company who did tuning gear for the Mk11 and Mk 111 range

Raymond Mays.

I think Aquaplane may have done some bits too even though they were mainly 100E tuners IIRC.

Last time I saw this car in the metal at a show at Mornington the owner had just pulled out of a junction in front of someone and had a somewhat reshaped rear drivers side door. At least that seems to have been fixed.. :)

It is a very nice original car, but I suspect it will be popping up for sale again and again for many years to come at that asking price.

But then I could just be tainted since I haven't had a single person even come to look at mine and I'm only asking $4500.
