Introducing myself

Hello everyone,
I joined the forum because I regret having given away mrs. Becker (1971 P6B, Mexico Brown, LPG converted, luminition, kenlowe, etc. etc. Becker SatNav of course, one of the first and the only one that doesn't spoil the console) after 10 years of faithfull erveryday service (60 miles/day for the last 4 years, mostly motorway). She's in good hands at the moment, being lovingly restored to her former glory by someone who has 2 other P6s.

But I regret doing away with her sincerely. I now drive a Citroen XM V6 exclusive. Good car, no problems with it but it gulps petrol and feels one is conducting Starship Enterprise. Having been all over the internet looking at Jags, Mercs, Beamers even, God forbid, it suddenly occured to me a couple of weeks ago that I realy want a P6 again. Hence my renewed subscription to this forum.

Further background: Free-Lance qual marketing researcher and teacher at bachelors level (marketing research, consumer behaviou, psychology). Living in Amsterdam centre, hence no garage or room to work on a car. There's a very very good and reasonable Rover specialist here though, with a crew that still knows these cars from when they were still in production. They even used to have an informal owners meeting on friday afternoons until the police found out and set up traps to check on alcohol. Without results, obviously ;).

I joined this excellent and friendly forum to polish up my knowledge of the cars and perhaps become aware of my new love in RHD form ....

Best regards,

Aleph

A big welcome. I too am a recent member of the forum. I have two P6s - a 2000TC and a 3500 auto both are series 1s as I prefer the look of the earlier cars. I have not been without a P6 since I was 17 despite now being able to afford more modern kit (two previous XJRs now on a 'sensible' XJ 2.7 twin turbo diesel). There's something really special about the Rover P6 which just makes me feel good driving it. I've spent today fettling the 2000TC and going for a drive round London.

My father had an XM which simply would not go wrong even after 13 years. He'd promised himself a new car when the XM broke - but it didn't. I think he sold it for £300 still working perfectly!

Good luck in the hunt. It's always nice to sell a car to someone you know is really going to look after it.
