identifying 2 wires

My car is a 1972 SC2200 auto and I am hoping that you guys can identify 2 cables for me, the location is on the driver side inner wing close to where the igition coil wires come out of the loom, they are pink and white, and white and yellow they are sealed together and appear to be like this from production. this suggests spares for auxilary add ons but I have spent hours looking at the wire diagram but I have not been able to locate, they are not for fog or driving lamps or air conditioning so I am at a loss there is a 12 v supply when the ignition is turned on.

Is it this?

That is one end of the Ballast wire. It runs from behind the dashboard to there then up to the coil. You will find it has very stiff wire in it. Don't open up the shrink wrap like I did as this can cause you problems later like I had.

the picture looks as if its in the correct position but the identifying colour of pink /white does not tie up with the elec drawing for the ballast, yellow and white could be though

I have just done a continuity check and I would say that yes this the point where the 12v is ballasted from so it would appear that if anybody is thinking of a electronic ignition this the point at which to to split the wires so as to give 12v as normally required for the electronic system ,disregard the yellow and white( ballast wire) and connect the remaining wire . opinions would be greatly received.

disregard the last message I just looked at the wireing diagram and that is where the ballast wire (pink/ white) meets the the connection to go to the coil (yellow/white), but its getting closer to the 12v supply (white)

That is odd. wired starts off as a white or white/yellow at the fuse box then goes behind the dash where it joins the Pink Ballast wire. The diagram might just show this a a ballast resistor but it is a wire on your car. it comes out where you have found it in the engine bay.

You will also find that there is a 12v supply from the started going to the coil on the same termination. you might be getting the 12v from that.

If you are looking for a 12v to power the electronic ignition I would take a feed from the ignition switch or one of the circuits which is live when the ignition is on. and run the wire along side the loom and re tape it.

If you are not using the Fog lamps there is a wire which runs from the lights to the fuse box. all you would need to do is connect it to whatever fuse you like.
