Any one seen the Toyota ad ?

Is it just me or do any of you think the world with the old cars looks like a much more interesting place to live , and the new one at the end just looks sterile , lifeless , boring ? But then i don't suppose they're targeting the likes of us lot !

You know the idea of selling washing machines isnt a bad idea. Throw you clothes in the boot drive to work. Load done, you have all the bits there.

I hate how older cars are shown to be bad, unreliable or break down.

Colin

I agree. Totally prefer the older more interesting world.
How would you get sparks like that to come out of your exhaust?

an agressive cam on a gearchange i think. Certainly the tvr wedges do it on the gearchange and the engine differences are really injection, heads and cam...

The trouble I have is I don't buy into all this hybrid hype, it still has a 1.8 litre engine fitted
to charge the batteries and help them out at up to 70 mph. It doesn't need to be that size to
do that.

Colin

P.S. I know that is a bit simplistic, just saying!!

My " Big issue " with the whole thing is they never disclose the amount of years you need to run it to off set the carbon footprint of building either it , or any new car .
On another note where can i find one of those little carbon foot print stickers ( small and discreet ) to put on the boot just above the exhaust to P*** off the tree huggers

I think it's hilarious when they use older models to sell their new crap. I recall an ad from the late '70s for that horrible little Mustang II, parked next to a lovely 1964 convertible.
Even on average stuff, Mitsubishi has been pushing the new Mirage by using the late '70s Mirage Panther. Makes me look on the old one in a more favourable light than I did when they were common.

We've got a washing machine prius... exhaust just gone. £670... on a p6 you'd get an engine or gearbox for that! But it does 50+mpg round town costs £10 a year tax... so i guess i cant moan about it too much. The whole green-ness thing on cars is a bit odd. When 90% of a car's energy use occurs in manufacture scrappage and the like really looks disgusting.

Rich.

Here's another grumble . How about the new Vauxhall called Adam ? No offense to any one called Adam ( or Vauxhall come to that ) But , well , what can you say about that :? Imagine going round to show your mates your new " Adam" Then their's the Mocca ! That's either a cup of over priced coffee or the shade of summer hosiery ( trust me on that one guys  )
What's wrong with model names or numbers , P4/5/6 , then you elaborate , 2000 , 2.2 , V8 "S" , TC . TVR , TR2/3/4/5/6/7/8
Then you have Names , Stag , Mustang , Zephyr , etc . All rather evocative , and sure they're are hundreds more that stir the blood ! But " shall we take the Adam darling "??? No , i'd probably rather leave it somewhere it'll get stolen

Either way Rich , it just doesn't sound " Cool " eh :?

   ^^^ Nice one John , You've obviously been using your winter time well and furthering your education

No, I had a mate who sold grey imports and he advised a guy who was taking a Pajero to Spain that it might be advisable to replace the spare wheel cover off the back door with a plain one. I personally wouldn't have told him.

Ah yes. I had a reasonably odious colleague who drove one and after a mate who's married to
an Argie bird told me what it meant, we always felt better asking him how the car was going....
