hi all,
just dropped off my HP22 at my local gearbox specialists. it will be opened up firstly and taken from there, to see what if any thing needs doing. transfer box coming off obviously and will be fitted with two wheel drive tailshaft and a lower sump pan. nothing will happen much as they are on holiday till the 24th of this month. then i shall keep you informed of what is being done and what needs to be done to then get it in and working. one thing i shall be doing is keeping the standard gear lever in as i am not bothered about using the other functions the range rover box has. so to all intense and purposes it will look like a standard 3 speed, but hopefully will be a more quiet relaxed drive with less revs.

Cool - look forward to seeing how you get on with this. At the moment PAE is a short distance car really, but if i ever need to cover bigger distances this is the root i'd like to take!

I have an E28 BMW with a knackered 4HP22 that will be coming out at some point if you need any cheap bits - eg. tailshaft or sump pan.

lots of photos of the install would be good also your soultions to using the origional gearlever. The more I see done by others the less chance I have to procrastinate about my own RR Box sitting in the garage

hi all,
progress report, me thinks on the conversion. gearbox is now in, kickdown cable in, propshaft on, dropped a new 65 cable off for them before i went away on holiday. that is being attached to the standard gear lever, i personally think the jags, range rover etc ones are to big for the centre console in the rover and look disgusting ( my personal opinion ) bracket is being made up to attach gearbox to transmission tunnel. speedo also needs to be done ( easy fix ) so hopefully when i get back i might have a running 4 speed auto. so once i get it taxed and tested ( both have ran out as well as insurance ) dont' get me started on that. footman james have upped it £200.00 need to get them sorted, where the hell does that kind of increase come in ! any way i diversified, all being well i should have some good news and what you have all been waiting for PICTURES :D

Good to hear that progress has been made, like you I find the other selector leverand facias on offer to be awful and that only the Rover OEM will do. Keep us posted.

Really looking forward to seeing this. Would like to know (by pm ?) how much it ends up costing you to have done too...

I've got the BMW box for the back end now, but still havent seen a disco one pop up cheap enough....
