High Price parts!

Seems strange, that stuff looks to be about £30 elsewhere online.

Very suspicious !

In fact it's even more expensive than the cr*p Mrs Webmaster buys to blather on her wrinkles.

I've seen items on Ebay where one is about £30 and an identical one, same seller , will be about £300 .
Do they hope you click on the wrong one ?

I do believe there are some ridiculously expensive car waxes out there

I've never had a parcel go missing, either as a buyer or seller (touch wood), so I'm a little sceptical when people claim it's been lost, but I'm sure it can happen. I always use recorded delivery for stuff I've sold.

We have stuff going missing parcels wise very often. Usually when something is about 3 days late we can go to the depot and get them to search for it. They usually find other things we didnt even know about too.

I think you've been lucky.

Last thing to go missing is a rover 800 expansion tank - hence wont do any long journeys at the moment. Waiting on a second one now...

They're great aren't they, luckily I've got a good early one on mine, and a good spare, make sure you fit a new cap, or your new tank could go the same way very quickly.

Just been out oiling my bonnet release cables this morning, how sad is that. I've got a nice pile of new parts coming together to give mine a freshen up, radiator, all brakes, brake hoses, all shocks & springs etc.. I'm waiting for a full rear suspension setup to refurb and fit, it's all a bit crusty back there. After that it should be good for another 206k miles

I've not lost a parcel in eleven years of sending stuff out - one to Australia took a couple of months longer than expected, but did turn up as I was about to refund, but that's about it.

Thought I'd pull this thread out of the depths again after seeing how much a pair of rear headrests for a P5 have just sold for on ebay

Rear head rests

£410! check it out!

Dave

  I only paid £300 for a complete Ambla interior last year and had four extra door cards and two spare knee bins left over! Someone must have REALLY wanted those headrests.

A lot of money, but I have so say that it was an open auction, everybody was free to bid what they thought they were worth, and as I know the seller, I'm really pleased for him. There must have been at least 2 people who thought they were worth £400ish.

As its an open auction, its always possible for a mate of the seller to place a bid or 6!
Not saying this was the case here, but when you see parts go for silly money,it makes you think,MMMM????
Ive just had a 2nd chance offer sent me on an item I suspect was bid up by his mate,,
Ive made him an offer based on what I think I would of got it for and said take it or leave it!!

Risky, as you could end up as the highest bidder on your own parts, but as you say quite possible, but in this case I know the seller won't have done that.

True, but then they will find a viable reason to cancel the transaction!!
Just hope the bidder was a genuine buyer and not one of these muppets, morons, who seem to love pumping up bids only to never complete on the deal!

Wow! I guess the winning bidder didn't know that Wadhams do repros for 100 quid. :?

In general (and not commenting on the above h/rest sale), the reasons I can come up with for high eBay winning bids are:-

1. Some people are not very computer savvy - they have worked out how to buy things on eBay but the rest of the Internet and online retailing is pretty much a mystery to them.

2. Some folk just assume something will be cheaper on eBay because it's 2nd hand and because everything IS cheaper on eBay - isn't it? .

3. Some have money to burn and don't have the time or can't be bothered looking elsewhere.

4. There are maybe some who get locked into bidding wars and see it as personal insult if they are going to lose an item to another bidder - even if the other bidders is the seller's mate (Pilkie's Theory).

5. Pranksters/chancers who just bid on stuff then maybe make a lower offer if they win or just never pay up.
