I've just picked up on this thread after doing a search on member's posts for NTS809R as I recognised this registration number............................It's bad news I'm afraid, I bought that car from a Scrapyard in Gosforth & I broke it for spares. If it's any consolation it was absolutely rotten & the engine was siezed

Hi 2Diesels and all,

Thanks so much for the eulogy. At least she donated some organs, and lives on vicariously!

Apologies for the absence from the forum.

The only info I managed to dig up was that Faith was owned at some point by a member on the MG forums...if memory serves, he had a burnt orange ZT.

2Diesels - I'd like to get a few more details from you if at all possible. Dunno how to do that [moderator?}, as there were a couple of items on her of particular interest.

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi Matt not sure Colin pops in here very often i'll try and give him a nudge on the 75 & ZT forum and he does own a stunning orange tourer cheers Tam.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the reply post. Much appreciated. And thanks again to Chris for nudge.

About NTS 809R...was wondering what sort of date you bought her, as I don't know when she left my ownership (long story!). And what happened to her subsequently. Which parts were you able to salvage? I presume you trailered her - a rotten shell? The ETs, Sundym, rubbish Alpine speakers !?

Log book - just kidding!

Any idea which scrappers in Gosforth, or how she ended up there?

I particularly remember the leather 2-metal-spoked steering wheel (slight crack on enamel boss from a 3500S maybe - previous owner), which I had to restitch, and leaving a message on a piece of paper enclosed by the leather. Message in a steering wheel!!!

Just trying to connect the dots as she was my first (and best) car.

Any info/pics at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt.

Oh, btw...you might recognise the location that the pictures of Faith were taken, at the beginning of the thread. Were taken at the elbow of Windsor Crescent (before it was one-way), on the the front between Whitley Bay and Cullercoats Bay.

Hi Matt
Just picked this up again, I bought it probably around 2003/4 at a guess. It came from Gosforth Autos yard at Wideopen.............now a housing estate.
I did trailer it away trying to remember what I used (that would give a more accurate date) I'm pretty sure it would have been my Volvo 940 & the "safety" trailer (nuff said  ) so probably not far wrong.
Bits wise I saved quite a lot off it most of which was subsequently stolen  though a couple of body panels live on on other cars, I saved the glass & the boot mount kit..................dont think it had ETs on when I got it, saved the carbs & manifold & a few ancilliaries (engine was siezed) kept the rear suspension & diff which again disappeared from my stock pile, I think it had a standard wheel when I got it although I did end up with a nice "S" style wheel with a longship centre badge (might have come off that car not sure)
Dont think I'll have any pics unless it makes a cameo appearance in some pics of my classic caravan & Austin 1800s.
Poor old thing was pretty hard up by the time I got it.
I did recognise the location yes which brings me to my next P6 fact......There was a Lunar Grey used to stand on a drive in Whitley Bay on Marine Avenue on the left just before the traffic lights at Park View........dunno if that was it??????
