Although I have been in the club for years I have only joined this forum today.

My present project is to convert my car to take the spare wheel on the boot as I need to use the boot for my wife's mobility scooter for shows. Has anyone done this on a car with wire wheels. Any help appreciated as I believe the hubs are different

I have done it to my Wire wheeled TC. The only thing I had to do was modify the bootlid mounting cup. I basically cut the cup part off, leaving a flat disc with the bayonet fitting underneath, then had a friendly machine shop mill a small step around the outside to locate it in the centre of the wheel. The standard touring kit hold down bolt works fine if you leave out the large dished washer. This modified mounting cup also works for Rostyles (With a different diameter step obviously) and possibly Magstars, though I haven't fitted a touring kit to that car yet.

I did this one myself with limited equipment so the step isn't as pronounced as I'd like but it works fine.
