Hello to all

Καλημέρα Δημήτρη και Jim

I am a new member from Greece and a Rover P6 fan. Years ago I started a long restoration project. Unfortunately there is very slow progress because some military truck restorations and wooden boat builds occurred in parallel. I am also a middle aged university student. For the next two years I don’t expect any development to the P6 project. So it is very critical and very pleasant to watch other members’ efforts and dream through their dreams.

I like your cars, and learn from your experience. If you bare me, I will start a project tread to tell my P6 story.

I am testing how to post pictures.

Hello George,
Your car looks like an excellent basis for a project. Actually it already looks better than mine which I use every day!

Καλώς τον κι ας άργησε! :)

It seems that you have already searched this excellent forum. It is not only the wealth of information that you can find here, but also the ethos of the majority of the participants that makes it worthwhile.

I can see that you have attacked your Rover in order to restore it, so understandably it will take a while, despite that you should not encounter the rust issues that are the headache of most UK owners.
In comparison i had a very different approach from you, i could not wait to use use it, so the result was a rolling, sympathetic TLC, rather than a restoration from the grounds up. Even now, 10 years and 190,000 Kms later i still find things that i want to improve, even though now i am much more relaxed.

Whereabouts in Greece are you based? We may try to arrange a meeting some day.

Thank you both

I really searched the forum for a while and I appreciated the ambience and all the excellent members.

It is true that the car was in good condition when I started working on it. Certainly there were only minor rust problems that the previous owner didn’t take care of. It was my mistake not to go for a rolling restoration. During that period I acquired a new workshop, money and time and the false believe that those were going to last forever. So I decided to go for my best creation. It ended to be a technical rather than a sentimental journey.

I forgot to mention that I now live in Athens and my workshop and cars are based in my home town Ioannina. I am also very fond of Thessaloniki where I was studding during late 80s. Demetris I look forward for a meeting.

A project tread will follow.

George

Καλημέρα George, xαίρω πολύ! όπου μένεις στην Αθήνα?
I know there was a red tc in a yard in Neos Kosmos, behind Lidl, probably still is. I enquired about it a few years back when I was living full time in Koukaki. Might be useful for parts if it's still there? I was after the wood rim steering wheel, but had to buy the whole car if I wanted it..
There is another Greek P6 owner I know of in Athens from Facebook, but I don't think he is on here. He also has a nice dark green v8.
Your project is looking good, glad to see more people using epoxy primer!
Building boats must be fun? The jeep looks great too
