Hi,

Just registered here after purchasing my P6 project from a fellow poster on here LEWIS2392

Car is a 1974 Zircon Blue 3500S

Ticked all the right boxes for me, colour, 3500S, project car but not quite a basket case. First P6 in many years, but not my first restoration project.

Car has had a lot of what I call MOT bodged welding in all the usual places, so is going to require complete new sills on both sides, NSF inner wing section, door skins all round, D posts and so on.

I will no doubt be tapping into the wealth of experience on this forum, and can’t wait to get stuck into the project.

So first question it that it appears that no one makes new or pattern rear boot side sections (that the stabiliser bar bolt passes through). This appears to be a common issue (car has three plate repairs in this area) so find it odd that JRW do not appear to make a new piece for there. Am I looking in the right place, or can anyone either sell me the O/S panel or point me in the direct of a source for this please.

Regards

Antony

Welcome to the forum Anthony,

Fortunately for me i have not had any issues in that area so can't advice as to sourcing new but supprised that JRW could not help you. But as you said the wealth of experiance on this forum someone will have an answer for you otherwise you may have to fabricate them yourself as a last resort.

You could start a thread on your project and post all your questions on there :)

Look forward to some pics aswell

Welcome Antony

JRW used to do a repair panel for that area but I'm not sure they still do. The area is well hidden away so if you wanted to have a go at forming your own panel it wouldn't necessarily have to look perfect as long as it was solid and did the job. There's always the option of finding a scrap car with a good boot and cutting out the required section, but as you've pointed out this is a common area for rot. I'm sure someone will have something suitable tucked away in their spares pool, just a matter of persuading them to part with it
