Heater - I Need a heater box

HI All,
My quest for heat on the screen has lead me to believe that I need a new heater box, this is because the Heath Robinson style levers on the side of the box have at some point been meddled with, one of the alluminium castings has broken, one is missing and some of the wire connecting rods have been cut! using the diagram from the workshop manual I have wedged all the levers in the correct position to blow warm air on the screen.
What I need is a decent heater box with working levers and flaps (the matrix on mine looks new - obviously an attempt to fix it in the past) so all I am really looking for is the box, if it comes with a spare matrix that will be a bonus. any help would be greatly appreciated. I am in South Wales

I have been looking for bits and pieces myself. Whoever I have contacted -especially Wadhams - they have been extortionate.

Sounds about right. I've got 3 heater boxes and fingers crossed I can make one decent one out them. I think (although I'm prepared to be corrected) that the levers are mazac castings which is notorious for corroding, as per door handles etc.

One of the heater boxes which came from my auto v8 had had the matrix replaced but I think they went in with a hammer and chisel!

I've heard (from Ian incidently) that the 4cyl car matrix is less prone to furring up as it's connencted to an iron engine. I've got a 4cyl heater box in the collection so well see. Another point is that you can often find there is little output from the matrix as the internal divider that splits the inlet and outlet has come adrift. Both inlet and outlet are on the same side and with the divider out of action most of the flow is straight in and straight out. Evidence of this condition is a burst of hot air that drops quickly to luke warm/cold as the matrix cools. Turning off the fan allows it to slowly heat up again for another 10 second burst.
