Heated front windscreens

A number of classic cars can now have heated front windscreens (invisible element like on new Fords), such as Mini, Morris Minors, Triumphs, quite surprising what is available, my question to the Forum concerns does anyone know if new heated front screens are available for our cars?

It would be a dramatic improvement to winter driving - my car is an everyday driver, and this would be a welcomed upgrade!

Don't think so. Triplex made a few back in the day for the rally cars and such. They were very similar to the early heated rear screens with two horizontal strips and lots of very fine vertical wires. I think the convertible had one fitted once but it was swapped into JXC8C (the rally car) when Bob Gardner owned them both.

You are right, the Rally cars had them. A few years ago, I asked Triplex if they would make one, but they said they would need a batch of at least 20 to be economical. Can't remember the price they quoted, I think it was high but not astronomical. Might be worth seeing if we could get 20 orders form interested people.

Hi,

I've used http://www.heatedwindscreen.com/acatalo ... reens.html in the past, he supplied me a heated screen for the front of my sprint Metro. I also asked about short production runs and from memory (it was about 6 or 7 years ago) the price wasn't crazy high but I can't remember exactly. I had thought about one for the P6 but to be honest so far fogging up hasn't really been a problem so probably down the development list a wee way at the moment.
