Here`s a story. Had my Rover 2000TC almost a year now. Few niggles, but basically drove well, but needed a bit of a fettle due to being laid up for a bit. I was on my way to meet Dave, my local P6 mad mate...sorry Dave! The car had been a `bit lumpy` for a few weeks, and not being P6 friendly as yet, I thought it better to leave it and let an old hand take a look first. The car started to `kangaroo` all over the place on the way to Daves, so much that it would have shook my false teeth loose if I`d had any! Before I completed my journey there I discovered it was getting more difficult to engage second gear. It was being shook about something chronic by the way. I was worried the engine & box might come away from the frame at one point. Anyway, turned out my condenser was very loose, and was causing the car to judder like mad. That sorted I now have a gearbox that is sometimes a nightmare to get into 2nd, either from 1st or 3rd...with a lot of crunching & crashing. But, very occassionally it goes in smooth as it did before this all began!!?? Question remains, have I done some major damage, or does anyone reckon the shaking about of the car caused something to go awry that can be `adjusted out` somehow on the linkages!!??
Any and all ideas welcomed.
Cheers, Drew ???
