Handbrake Gaiter

Just from a quick glance I wouldn't buy one, the shape is nothing like the original, and TBH I think it would look like a pigs breakfast when you tried to fit it. But hey, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

That was my thought, but I was kind of hoping someone may say " fitted like a dream and looks the dogs danglies" rather than "looks LIKE the dogs danglies"

Really? I think it looks a lot like the original.. the NADA ones were fitted from underneath and look far better than the rubber ones.

That's where we have a difference of opinion then, because I think that all of the NADA "extras", including that and the centre console, detract from, rather than improve the cars. But as I said before, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

The standard rubber gaiters often look rubbish because a lot of the time they're not fitted properly.

You wouldn't pay a lot more than £20 for the proper one
How long does one of those last before it splits ?

Hi Harvey,
yes we are all different and that is why i love the NADA, it had those little things that were different, some ugly looking and some good ones, again it is always down to your own personal taste and i prefer the leather covered metal console as there is enough plastic in the car without the standard plastic one which all of the cars had apart from the 2017 that were NADA's exproted to the USA and a few that were left went into europe. A lot of people i talk to absolutely hate the scoops on the bonnet, but they were there for a functional reason and not just cosmetic. I also like the side markers on the wings, i do not use them as side markers, instead i wire them into the indicators as that is more practical as 'A' i don't use the car at night and 'B' it is now law for us to have indicators on the sides of our every day cars and as they were there for the NADA it for me is great.

Also what about the electric windows, surely that should have been an option, jags etc had them and these fine rovers were executive cars for bank managers etc, so surely an option like that should have been available for the rest of the world. :?:

Dave,
£25.00 gets you a proper rubber gaitor and should last you a life time as the cars are not now used every day, when they were they must have lasted 20 + years before splitting. :!:

Ironically, the one thing that I would consider fitting to my car that was a NADA item, you wouldn't see anyway, and that's the side impact bars. I don't know how effective they would be, but on a car that had such an emphasis on safety in its construction, I'm surprised they weren't fitted across the board.

The bonnet scoops don't appeal to me, but I can sort of see the how they appeal to others, the same with electric windows, but I wouldn't want any of it on a car. I have the same feeling about Webastos, so it's not just a NADA thing.........

Hi Harvey,
i think i only have three left for some reason. the other could be copied from the one that is oppposite as it is basicall round tube, the ends being made up of two pieces of flat metal welded together in a 'T'shape to slid in the tube to adjust and to fasten to the door.

I agree too. It has to be seen in the context of a 1961 design - but it's not up to the standard of the rest of the interior. Having said that, I'm also not convinced by the NADA item. Better, but still not there.

I agree with Harvey about the desirabilty of the NADA side impact beams. But a word of caution, with beams and electric windows the doors are extremely heavy.
