I can't help with a used gearbox, but if you find out the fault with yours I do know that The Rovering Member on here has a big box of new parts for 2000/2200 gearboxes.
The sloppy change will be external to the gearbox itself, the other two will need you to get it apart and have a look inside. I trust that it's got oil in it.....
That could be problematic. My introduction to the P6 gearbox was a friend's car back in 1974 which had been filled with gear oil. The roller bearing that the mainshaft rides in in the input pinion failed as a result.
