gear stick.

I have a long gear stick fitted ( 1972 2000 tc ) and wanted to change to the short stick, I have read that the 3 different sticks are all inter changeable, fitted the short stick and had great difficulty in selecting gears especialy reverse.

Removed the stick and found that the length between the locating ball and the acorn was about 8 mm shorter, this would account for the gear selection problem, has any one else had this problem and how to sort it.

AFAIK Series one isn't interchangeable with series 2, but all series 2 will interchange, so you probably tried fitting a series one into your series 2.

The only caveat being the metal acorn long lever needs to be used with the bush in the selector rod.

thanks for that, I purchased the short lever from wadhams, with out knowing there was a series one or series two short stick, they only show one and claim they are fully interchangeable. they can have that back on monday
