Fuel problems continue!

Car-P6 3500S.
When I first got the car it had usual fuel problems in slow traffic and hot weather. Fuel filter was empty but worked again when cooled down.
I have now completed a l0t of items. Electric fuel pump, expansion tank, checked the thermostat, cleared the small pipe to the inlet manifold,
re-cored the radiator with a larger 3 row,new temp. sender..The water temperature is now ok.
Yesterday leaving a car show, normal running 30-60 mph temp. in the white. When stopped in traffic the temp. rose a little but hardly in the green.
Then in slow traffic in a town the engine stopped! As before the fuel filter was empty but this time I did not wait very long but soaked a cloth in
water and put it over the fuel pump. After about a minute I switched on and the filter filled up and I was on my way. However 30 minutes later
same problem. This time I left the ignition on and used a wet cloth again and within about 10 seconds the pump filled the filter again.
So-Water temperature fine but under bonnet temp. very hot.
The electric pump(Facet) is fitted next to the wiper motor and about the same height. As hot air rises would it be better fitted as low as possible
and maybe at the front of the car near the screen wash bottle.
I would be glad of any help on this.
David

I had my electric (non facet) pump at that location by the washer bottle, no vaporisation problems.
However I have now reverted to the mechanical pump again and have had no further problems as well

facet type pumps are meant to go at the back of the car arent they? I thought putting it at the front could cause vapourization?

Thank you for the replies.
I suspect that the answer will be to install it at the rear.
I only put it up front because I have seen them on other P6,s.
Lesson learnt!

I had a facet in the front, working with the mech pump (granted it really is a pusher pump, not a puller) and although it helped the problems it didnt eliminate them.

I bit the bullet and fitted the pump at the rear - no problems at all since. None. Not once.

I have ordered a Huco pump to fix at the front.
Can anyone let me know what Gareths p6mod is?
It is mentioned in the forum re. routing the fuel lines, but the link does not work.
Thanks,
David

He routes the fuel line through the inner wing behind the road wheel then back in at the front.

The Huco pump is a puller so hopefully that'll solve it :)

hello my 3500s suffers from terrible vapourisation -i fitted facet pump at rear but left it running through mechanical pump-only switching on electric pump at signs of problems usually after standing for a few minutes when engine hot then switching electric pump of and running on mechanical-i realise that i could do away with mechanical pump but have no trust at all in new electric items--it works well for me and never been problem-andy
