Hello,
finally i solved my (possibly) fuel vapourisation issues. I always had trouble when running my P6 on the autobahn for extended periods of time. The car would suddenly hesitate to maintain power. Since an electric fuel pump (Pierburg sucker pump) was already installed, i searched for other possible troublemakers. Last week before an extended Nürburgring trip i tried to tackle this problem:
- first thing was cleaning the cooler - what an amount of crud was in there, although the fluid itself seemed to be pretty clean
- there was an additional smaller cooler for an aftermarket air condition installed - i threw it out (the AC itself was long gone)
- the fuel line was rerouted to the right hand side of the engine bay. The solid part under the block is no longer used. A flexible fuel line goes (with a filter) directly into the pierburg pump and then to the carb. Before it was in line with the old mechanical pump - not good
The result: I was blasting down the autobahn for approx. 900 km this weekend, no stuttering, perfect running engine (mostly at 3000 rpm and 120 km/h). The overall temperature was according to the gauge down and stayed there - Yes, problem solved i guess.
Many thanks for all the invaluable advice i got regarding my problem here - thank you guys, great job in helping to make another P6 owner a very happy one
