Front Suspension - Botttom Link Strut Ball Joint - V8

Having recently had my 1971 3500 V8 pass a Roadworthy, I've been taking it out to drive, fairly regularly.

Having driven it for about a week now, I've noticed a clunk, particularly under breaking and traveling over bumps or dips and I've traced this to excessive play in the Bottom Link Strut Ball Joint.

I'll remove the strut once my scissor-type ball joint splitter arrives. That said, however, once I've removed the strut, the ball joint will need replaced.

My understanding is that the ball joint on these struts is near impossible to come by? If so, is there an alternative? Are there any being re-manufactured? Does anyone know where I my get hold of one?

I'm quite sure this current one doesn't have long left and it seems a waste to have the car off the road for the sake of a singular ball joint.

Thanks

I got mine from Wins. Mark gray says he can help if you contact him too....

From my experience a scissor type ball joint is unlikely to split the joint. There is a special tool for it but even with that it took Mark gray about an hour to remove. To actually remove the ball joint he had to weld the centre pin in place. Mark posted pics of my strut being done on his website....

It might be my inaccuracy of language, however, I'm referring to part which has the ball joint and threaded end. That, in turn, ties the bottom link and the bottom link strut, the two suspension components that attach via rubber bushings to to the base unit.

Hi colnerov, I do indeed, with particular emphasis to the knackered ball joint. The arm un question is the Driver's Side.
