Front retractable belts for '69 NADA 2000TC

I have serched the forum but couldn't find a definite answer as to exactely what seat belts will work. There was mention of a clearance problem at the floor where the belt mounts and also a problem with the mounting of the retracter at this place since it's not perfectly vertical and won't retract properly. Can anyone tell me what will work to avoid these problems?

Securon do adjustable angle rear belts, not sure about front but they should sort any mounting issues if available, though I'm not personally aware of any mounting problems regarding retraction.
Clearance-wise, I don't think you can mount them with early S1 seats, you'll need the later ones with the metal plates on the side or S2 seats.

I'm not sure that any will work, factory cars modified the seat to allow room as I understand it. I know that when I looked into fitting a set on a car 10 years ago I couldn't find anything in the wrecking yard that would fit between the seat & the B/C Post.

And there you go, answer in the post above. I knew I should of waited a couple more hours before posting.

I'm thinking of fitting a pair of Mark Gray's inertia reel rear seatbelts (as soon as funds permit) but if I do that I'd like to put inertia reels in the front too, however looking at the mechanism on various examples in other cars I was sure they wouldn't fit between the seat and B post. I assume something suitable is available? Some of you guys have inertia reels, right?

Belts made by Securon are mentioned a lot. They have one that mounts the retractor up high on the post. This model is 514/30. This configuration would seem to eliminate the clearance problem and also the mounting problem of having to be vertical as this belt can be mounted at different angles. Has any one installed this belt succesfully?

Hi, the only problem I can see with mounting it high on the post, presumably where the shoulder
strap attaches, is that you will bash your head on it especially if you have long legs and have the
seat back.

Series 1 seats didn't have a cutout to accommodate an inertia, but it is just possible to get a Securon unit in there (see below), but you lose the ability to slide the seat.

Later seats had a chromed plate screwed into the frame that squashed all the padding out of the way to accommodate the reel.

The only other way I've seen it done is with the reels bolted to the inner sills in the rear footwells. Obviously, you lose legroom at the back, and it interferes with getting in and out of the car, but it suited that person. I've also spoken to somebody about hiding one in the B-post/sill area when a full sill-out resto was being done. The disadvantage is you can't access the reels, and you can't always guarantee the environment of the sills will be clean and dry, but it's another option if you were handy with a skinny disc and welder.

My Series 2 car has the chrome plates so I assume there's some hope. I'd like inertia reels. The old three points (actually new in 2001) are a bit of a pain compared to the more modern option.
