Free 3500s - Free

:p

Free to a good home is Brenda's 3500s. This car was featured at Wembley two years ago on the clubs restoration show, and it also featured in the December issue of P6 News 2003.

This has been brought about by some issues that will come to light in good time.

The car is in good condition base unit wise with good panels. The roof was changed from a black one to a huntsman complete with quater panels.

It does start and run but would benefit from a engine rebuild / replacement. The interior has been removed but is also available. The car needs to be removed asap, on a trailer.

The contact number is 0208 890 9094 and we are near Heathrow, or email on chairman@p6roc.com

Bye for now.

What year is it...... I am interested as the base unit of my 1972 3500s is going to take a serious amount of welding on the inner wings, rain gutters, etc etc etc........ Doing a transplant would be so much easier me thinks.

Is it still available?

Got a friend who I'm trying to convert from Mini's into proper cars and this could be v.interesting. We're over in High Wycombe and could shift quickly.

Good luck Jules!

I got my 3500 from this section last Christmas and it passed its MOT last month, I have been loving every moment, its great to drive around in a car thats been forgotten for so long and one more has been spared the crusher (although being in Paul and Brenda's care I doubt it would have wound up there, but you get my point)

Driving it the week it passed, I even had some kids come up to me in Shadwell, East London (where the Long Good Friday was filmed) and ask what it was. "Rover V8" I told them. "F**k off" replied the little charmer, "Thats not a Rover, they're crap!". I would have stuck around to correct him, but his mate was about to car jack me, so I let them enjoy the crisp burble of a V8 at high revs!

Have fun with it,

Matt

Heh-heh!, at least it's nice to see that they appreciated a proper car, even if they were trying to nick it!.
Though its sad that the younger generation will probably now always regard Rovers as 'crap'.

I wouldn't worry about the crap image problem, for years Rovers were considered an old womans car, then along came the P6 every young exec wanted one. Anyway my point is this, whatever the Chinese do with Rover it will without doubt be good.

If you told me ten years ago that Hyundai purveyors of re-modeled cortinas would be shifting bucket loads of good looking 2 door coupes, that are a pleasure to drive, I would probably have told you to pull the other one, but today I can feel my other one being well and truly pulled. For a company that has almost less history than me its quite an achievement.

It may take a couple of years and the machines will not be British in the true sense of the word (Neither is the new mini, but that has spread Britishness worldwide) but eventually Rover will once again be a force to be reconed with in the automotive industry.

OK I know I am going to get cries of boo and hiss not real Rovers etc. but did you spot any difference when Dyson production was shifted to asia - its still a great british product, its just built in asia.

Cheers
Al

is it a good thing that 'young exec's' like Rovers - take your typical sterotypical bmw driver as an example!

before anyone mentions it I know that the P6 was aimed at the young execs of the 60's but it (P6) really created that market sector, Rover could not have anticipated the eventual sterotypical driver of the car that took over the new market sector !

And to suggest Rovers were old womens car's - err businessness men and thosein the medical profession were Rover owners ( avoiding mentioning the english royal family and english government) -

The 'dyson' is a britsh design... a product of asia now thou, and as for the small bmw being named the same as a car that was so revolutioanry is simply an insult to the original.

Rant over all in good jest !
:p

Funny that - The only people I know with Dysons wont have another one! bits falling off and brittle plastic (maybe the 3 of them are unlucky??).

Move all manufacturing away from Europe and Europe will be the 3rd world in a few decades.

The only reason manufacturing goes abroad is that costs are chjeaper, market forces I hear some cry.. I tend to think of costs such as forced labour, no health care, no industrial accident regulation etc.

Problem is now you dont have a choice. Everything is made abroad. It is difficult to choose a brand and know that you are not supporting child labour

The European coal mines have practically all closed, Coal is cheaper from China. Who cares about the 5000+ killed every year? We dont - We buy the product - Not our problem.
