Not sure where to put this post :?
I'm after a middle and rear silencer for my v8. Apart from wadhams is there anywhere else i can look?
Thank you
Kelly

Hi Kelly,
It does seem to be a problem nowadays, one used to still find silencers gathering dust on old stockists
racks but now very little chance. Short answer is Wadhams best bet for mild steel or stainless items,
and from my experience they fit (as opposed to some of the old spurious makes that were on the market
in days of yor) unless somebody on here knows differently....... :?:
Occasionally they run out of stock of popular items but a new batch will have been ordered and the wait
is usually not long.

Personally I do not have a problem supporting companys that specialise in supply of parts for our cars,
if it was not for them we would struggle to keep our P6`s on the road :D :D .

Perhaps it needs saying that I have no connection with Wadhams other than as a customer.

Don't forget Winns!

Also Colin Gould in Faringdon on 01367 244646 can supply stainless steel sections that replace the individual mild steel sections like for like (so you can buy a stainless system section at a time whilst your mild steel bits get full life).

:D Thanks guys, useful information.
So is stainless the preferred choice over steel nowadays and what about the difference in cost?
( getting the rover through an mot at the moment )
Kelly :D

Stainless is preferred for longevity. But it's definitely noisier than a mild steel system. Things are moving toward full S/S though, so you pays your money & you takes your choice. I think it costs roughly the same to have a system custom made from mild steel or stainless. Personally, I'd prefer to go after mild steel items, either NOS or good second-hand for as long as I can but as stated, they're getting fewer & fewer.

IMO if you can spend the money once and get a full stainless steel system, fit it and forget about it life time garentee, I've had mine on now for 8 years :D

Having just recently purchased a full V8S stainless system from JRW I can vouch for the fit and quality of the system. :D

A little noiser than I would have liked, but at least it will last a long time. I had considered wrapping exhaust bandage to the downpipes to see if it made any difference to the noise, but have not done anything about it yet and as time goes on it is getting less obtrusive, whether this is just me or the exhaust is building up carbon inside and dampening the noise a little.

a mate of mine with a 2.2 has a stainless downpipe fitted and it sounds horrible just to loud and tinny
But guy has a full system on his 3500s and that sounds very nice :D

Hi guys
Had to go mild steel, simply to bring the cost down for now. Just spent so much of last with mot.. gear box etc.. Just nice to have her home again after 3 months.!!
