Excellent Condition Magstars

Hello

I now have two rovers and the full triumverate of wheels here in the US. Wires, Magstars, Magnum 500s (in order of preference). So, those among you with O Level maths will have deduced that I have more wheels than holes to put them in. I am wondering what to do. The wires will stay. The Magnums are on my 3500S at the moment. The Magstars are on the sidelines. I can either go through the rigmorole of swapping the Magnum hubs and put the Magstars on the 3500S and the Magnums would be pretty much worthless, OR bringing the Magstars to the UK and selling them there.

Any idea what (if there is one) is the going rate for a set of excellent condition magstars (I thoroughly sanded them down, painted, and polished, after they had already been sanded down once).

Anyone on the lookout for these beasties?

Magstars for the P6 are rare and desirable! So rare, that I don't think there is an established market price, so I'm afraid you're on your own there.

If your "Magnum 500"'s fit the 3500S they aren't - they're Rostyles! Magnum 500's are US made and have a different stud pattern to the standard Rover set up. It's nearly impossible to tell them apart from Rostyles unless you have them side by side. Rostyles are UK made and there were two varieties - one for the 2000's and one for the V8's which were 1/2" wider.

Chris, Adrian did mention having to swap the hubs to take the magnums off, so I suspect they are magnums rather than rostyles.

Oh, such hub fun

I got the magnums not knowing they were magnums. Let's just swap those dull steelies for the chrome wheels I thought. Oh dear, looks like the bolt pattern is different I discovered. Sudden realization I had to take all hubs off. I did that to get the magnums on. Now I have to choose whether to reverse the whole process to get the Stars on! Guh.

PS. Now considering chroming the star rims......option C

Hello

14" wheel. I am not sure what the rim width is. Unlike wires and the magnums, the big advantage of these is that you can just stick them straight on. Unless of course you already have swapped hubs like I did!

Adrian,

The Magstars will go on your TC without any problems, but they will rub on the rear on your 3500S - there is some minor "surgery" you can do to avoid this. Check out Keynsham1's page on his beautiful red NADA - Richard hasn't worked up the courage to make the necessary corrections to fit his Magstars yet, and I don't blame him after all the work he put in.

I have a set of Magstars that came with mine, but as I am a long way off from choosing wheels I haven't given it too much thought - although Minilites are kind of appealing. If you decide to get rid of your wire wheel set up let me know - I am only up the road from you, well up the 5 anyway.

Alan.
