A friend of mine (who has a 2000TC) in Germany is asking if the engine and gearbox from a 3500S (which he can acquire over there very cheap) would fit his car. If so, is there much work involved.
Thanks.......Phil.

Hi

I guess the works will be extensive that it is probably better to get a 3500 to start with. The body shell will require modification, final drive, brakes, instrumentation, wiring, etc., and you will have a car that is neither one nor the other, so probably has little re-sale value, possible problems with insurance - can't really see the point particularly as 3500's are easily available in the first place!

Good luck

I agree with Gary, the engine bay is quite considerably different between the v8 and 4pot. If he wants to do it cheaply then find a rough v8 and swap all the panels etc over from the tc. Takes a couple of days to do the lot, instant v8 that looks just like his tc. (keep the v8 number plate though ! )

I agree also - We have a member in the Cardiff Branch who successfully carried out this mod but it was a lot of work, bound to cause problems with insurance companies and only worth the parts prices when you come to sell it!
I cannot see the point, unless you have all the requisite parts, no money, plenty of time and don't expect a return on your investment.
