Engine side plates.

Hello folks, Went to fit starter today, Look what I have found!!  I think there could be some major involvement. When Kennings
of Sheffield closed some years ago I bought a water pump and a pair of side panels for the princely some of £35!!
Sincerely Moon Rover! Kevin

That was a wise investment!
While you're fitting them, it could be worth replacing the engine mounts too - upgrading to VW mounts a la Demetris.

Not good mate. I just bought a pair of new ones from Wins for my 2000 rebuild. They should hopefully outlast me :)

I don't know the average life of the side plates. The original set on Vanessa lasted for 25 years before I replaced them.

What longevity have other noticed?

My NZ-new 2000SC lasted 25-30 years before one started to leak. I suppose it depends on how often you change the water, the anti-freeze to water ratio etc etc.. and the biggie of how often you use your car.
