Engine Bay Paint

Hi All,

I run a company specialising in Jaguars, and have been asked by a customer to restore one of his cars - a Rover P6.
Work is well under way now - with the car down to a bare shell, and am posting here to ask what colour the engine bay should be? The car is a 1973 2000, in Almond. The engine bay was a combination of Matt Black and Gloss Black. Which should it be?!!

It would of originally been basically satin black, or a sort of 'egg-shell' black if you could imagine that.

Lots of people do re-finish them in gloss though. Maybe because the original finish tends to become almost 'gloss' after many years of cleaning/wiping over with an oily rag!
I think they look best in satin black myself.

Its another thing on my list in the near future!

It will end up Satin Black I think, as the owner is aiming for 'as it should have been'.
