Electronic ignition

My 1973 P6 V8 was fitted with an Accuspark electronic ignition module replacing the points and condensor in the original distributor. This module failed and I replaced it with an identical Accuspark unit and it appears that the replacement has now failed! Can anybody recommend a reliable make of electronic ignition module to replace the Accuspark one. Thanks, Rob.

Had one of these for years no problem, usually it's excess heat that kills them. There are loads of options and these module types are fundamentally all the same. Your next option is a optical system like Lumenition or a replacement distributor which either is or is a copy of the SD1 type. This has a replaceable transistor module on the outside. I now have this from SimonBBC who also supplied the module. Works fine.

I can certainly recommend Lumenition as being an extremely reliable system! I fitted the original system in 1991, and it ran until 2015, when the power module started to give problems. Over the 24 years of totally reliable service, my Rover had covered some 229,000 miles (369,000km). Although I have no direct evidence, I would be surprised if any of the other systems would last as long, given their exposure to more heat.
I subsequently fitted a new Lumenition power module and on we go!

I think the aldon or pertronix ignitor gets good reviews as a replacement for what you've got too. There are loads of options

Speak to H&H ignition services.

I have used them to refurbish distributors and have just got one back today. I will fit an Aldon unit in place of the points once I have the car back together but I believe that they can supply an electronic distributor for not a lot of money.
