elec fuel pump - fuel

Hi all,
hope u lot can help,i have fitted an early sd1 engine and have decided to go with the elec fuel pump option, probably from the local scrap yard.I need to know which car would have a suitable pump ..also where to mount it,boot or engine bay Thanks peeps Cabman
 
I used an old points operated SU mounted in the boot. If you mount the pump in the boot it's not possible to use the reserve as there are two fuel lines. I believe you can get mount a pump in the engine bay and still use the reserve tap.
 
Thanks BB,i assume the pump was off a mini or similar...do you get fuel vapourisation problems or has this sorted it out CABMAN
 
I think the pump was from a mini. I did suffer badly from fuel vaporisation and the pump did cure it. The engine also ran a generally a lot better afterwards so I think the mechanical fuel pump wasn't working properly anyway.

Let me know how you get on and where in the boot you maount the pump. I`ve got a jaguar pump I`m going to fit to mine when I get time!
