Edelbrock inlet manifold in P6

Gentlemen, I have problems in constructing an "inteligent device" connecting the gas pedal with the Edelbrock inlet manifold of my P6. The old system consisted of connecting rods, however, the Edelbrock system is based on cabels. I believe that those of you who have the Holley carb or the Edelbrock may have encountered the same problem. How did you solve that? - Any drawings or photos will be very welcome. Regards, Chris Varming

What carbs are you connecting too? I can photo my weber edelbrock stup if it's relevant.
I retained the rod setup and installed a right angle lever mounted to the carb mounting stud

Here is one I have on file can take more or closeups if required.

Hello Graeme - My carb is an Edlebrock 500 taken from a SD1 - your photo is very interesting and I'm interested in the bracket which you have fitted on the rear of the inlet manifold. You mentioned that you retained the rod setup and a right angle lever, - was that included when you bought the Edelbrock or did you make it yourself? It is the transition between the accelerator coupling shaft and the cable I have problems with. From your photo I conclude that you do not have cable but rods only, am I right? Regards, Chris Varming

Billoddie: Thanks for the link - it was very useful. (I spent one hour surfing around the Edelbrock carb) thanks mate! Chris Varming

Hi Chris, my carb is also the 500, the carb does not come with a bracket so had to make it, no cables at all.
I will take some more close up photos probably tomorrow as currently sick in bed with the bot, very simple setup and 100% effective.
I found the addition of a heat spacer between carb and manifold to be effective in reducing anomalous heat induced behaviours, prior to fitting I found some slight hesitation in getting underway from the lights after extended idle periods, spacer cured that. I noted in other peoples reveiws that hot starting can be a problem also, not really ever experienced that but it pays to be on the safe side.
When getting an appropriate aircleaner you have to be cognizant of the available space as the bonnet is a close fit to the cleaner.

Transfomed the driving experience immensly, the single best performance upgrade I have doen and worth every penny spent to d it.

Hi Chris you may note the use of fibre washers (red) to secure the carb to the inlet manifold, this was to reduce heat blead thru from the mounting studs as when I measured using my Infra-red themometer after the instalation of the heat isolating gasket (black 1/4 inch composite gasket )there was quite a bit of transfered heat.
The reason for my fastidiousness was that I had a hot restart problem which later transpired to be the electric fuel pump being the source of my woes however the the heat isolation did noticably improve the performance of the carb.
You, as mentioned need to be mindfull of the underbonnet clearance to the air filter, the extra 1/4 inch was enough to let the bonnet heat insultion material touch the air filter top on the forward end of the air cleaner cover, if you are using the Edlebrock part there may well be a less tall air cleaner... there certainly was a taller one ....glad I didn't order that one.
