does this one look ok?

What you need is a friendly peterborough person to have a look over it for you!

Have you had any other pictures or history? Some pictures inside the sills and the underside are a good start!

Rich.

It's not a very inspiring advert , says the minimum .I supsect it is overpriced rubbish .Someone's been painting it as the sills should be black - so look for signs of a quick blow-over

Whether it's overpriced or not ginger01 should still go to view it if it's close - the more you see, the more knowledge you get.

wing badges are missing, might mean that the car has GRP wings, not a bad thing but have a look. A lot of money for a car but dealer prices are.

A lot of money for a car but dealer prices are.

That's why the comments here are critical of little things - we are talking the upper end of the price range!

Well I bought my P6 heart first. I wanted it so I bought it. Totally the wrong way to do it. As it turns out it wasn't a disaster. But you need to start somewhere so have a look if your interested.
I will say that subsequently I believe I could have bought a lot better for the money I paid at the time. But you know what they say about hindsight. Also if you do have an experienced P6er handy to have a look with you you get a hands on lesson of what to look for and where to find it.

You never know it may be not horrendous and suit your pocket. But just don't jump in like I did is my advice.

Hi , don't wanna get in trouble for negative posts ,but i'll risk it . The same seller had a red 3500 s for sale back in January when i was looking for mine , looked great in the pics . Drove up there with dad one Saturday( about 4 hours ) with a hand bag full of cash full of high spirits . Although the car was solid the paint was nothing like it looked in the pics , it was top money and it needed around a grand spent for tires , rear discs , pads , calipers , tax mot before you could start to use it . Didn't even bother to take it for a run much to the surprise of the dealer ! Having said all that he was a really nice guy and made a decent cup of tea , long way to go for a brew though :D

£4k is a dangerous price area, if it was £6k+ you would rightly expect it to be near perfect. There aren't many cars like that about !
£3-4k is a strange area where you can get great exterior panels, and possibly interior, which makes it "look" like a £6k car, but there's always something wrong, roughly repaired base unit, or a base unit that needs significant repair either now or very soon. Engine / box past their best, that sort of thing.

Don't forget, that's his asking price, it's not fixed !

Hi this is the car that i am interested in( buying see link) it is the rover at the bottom of the page it looks nice but we all know how good cars can look in pictures, so what do the diehard p6 owners on here think about this one?.
Many thanks :D

Thanks everyone for your fast replys to my post, i will have a good look at the car (its only 20 miles from where i live) and keep in mind what you have all said about the car.

I know there are no for sale ads allowed on here but is it ok if any member knows of a good P6 for sale to PM me details of the car?
Many thanks RHL. :)

I wouldn't say that car is worth the asking price. The colour of the panels is pretty badly mismatched from the photos, it has a rear bumper with no overriders, so it's probably off a 2000, the sills aren't the right colour, it's sitting rather high, and if it's the car I think it is, under the bonnet is painted body colour, which in this case, really doesn't look attractive. I'm fairly sure it was one ebay fairly recently and was lucky if it scraped £2k. I could be wrong though.

There is a for sale section people can post cars in - just not been many on recently :)

At around £4k you'll get a really good example.

Also worth looking at the 2 clubs as they have for sale sections in their mags.

Plus the sites you've already seen linked above!

I would add, even if you pay 4-5K their will still be bits to do to it. It's not like spending that money on a modern car where you can have a couple of years with no outlay. But hey, isn't that part of the fun.

Mick, you and I have a different idea of fun, you need to get out more and meet more people

John.

Think your kidding yourself John, when you have a problem on your p6 and you get your hands dirty, knuckles cut, done a fair bit of swearing and then jump in and drive it down the road, don't you smile to yourself with that smug look of satisfaction and say "THAT WAS FUN" mmmmmm ok John, point taken.

It would be interesting to see what you find if you go see it.

I might be out of touch with prices but feel that anything over £2500 would be decent and need very minor things doing if any.

I would look on www.carandclassic.co.uk or classic car weekly as the seem to have more reasonably priced cars, one of the issues is distance but whatever you do go see a few, you will soon notice the ones which arent worth the money.

Of course you have access to a wealth of knowledge here to tap into.
