Differences in the Rear Suspension

I was just looking through my parts books for the rear suspension (books are published in 1969 for the 2000, and 1979 for the 2200) and there are different parts numbers listed for the:

Trailing arm
bushes
Shock absorbers
etc

Are they all different but interchangeable, or is there some aspect to the 2200 rear suspension that was modified.

Thanks,
Brian.

2000 and 2200 rear suspensions are different, the 2200 has the same set up as the V8, but with the same straight toplinks as the 2000, so the pinion crossmember and lower links are unique to the 2000, V8 and 2200 are different to the 2000 but the same as each other. V8 toplinks are cranked to allow for the wider wheels, with a larger bush at one end. De Dion tubes and elbows are the same on all models. S/abs are different on the 2000 as well due to the way they affix to the lower arm.
I'm not sure if the bushes on the lower links are the same but I would think not.

Thanks Harvey,

I see that the mounting plate on the trailing arm for the shock abs. is a different shape, but I'd have thought that the shock absorber itself would be the same. They all look identical to my untrained eye..

I thought some people put the V8 heavy duty rear shocks on the 2000 ???

Ta,
Bri.

I think you'd get the V8 shocks to fit the 2000, they're just a larger diameter and use different fitting rubbers, but they are a different part.

Looking at my cars, the 2000 trailing arm has the four bolt holes flush with the base, with a deep pressed bracket to mount the shock about 1/2 way up the hole, while the 3500 has the four bolt holes 1/2 way up the hole, but from memory it had a thick flat plate? So presumably I'd assume they should be interchangeable, and the difference is probably just the diameter/rating. I think one end of the v8 lower trailing link has a large diameter/ heavy duty bush fitted.
