Very very unusual. Am I right in thinking Denevos were discontinued/phased out in approx 1982?

I would imagine somewhere about then. They survived on the SD1, Austin Princess & Mini Clubman's for a few years after the P6 (some Triumph's too maybe?). Discontinued mainly due to the maintenance/repair network not being set up comprehensively enough if I recall from James Taylor's P6 book.
Our Mexico car lost her wheels in the normal way somewhere along the line & I still don't know what I'll end up doing with the set of unused Denovo tyres on brand new rims, complete with two sets of NOS trims plus one set of NOS wheel nuts/washers that I bought as a result of finding out what Denovo's were after buying the car. I was going to use them as display items but would have to have the car on the road again first & when that happens the plan is to put her up for sale anyway.
I used to own a 1980 Princess that had Denovos fitted. The low profile tyres plus the high unsprung weight gave a very harsh ride and the tread life was short. They were soon ditched. You are right about the service network. There was only one dealer in the whole of France and if you went abroad Dunlop would hire you a spare wheel, which you had no space to store in the car. Furthermore, the much publicised "run flat" mileage was cumulative over the life of the tyre, so if you used it up in one puncture you had to buy a new tyre. Ghastly things, I can't imagine the attraction, the car isn't usable with those things fitted. The Rovering Member said:NickDunning said:The Rovering Member said:

Only as a curiosity or a museum exhibit. Those tyres are probably at least thirty years old and they were crap when new.DaveHerns said:If they are Denovos , the car is a bargain for someone

Shows how popular they were by that time then, that said, just because they're in the DENOVO brochure, that's not to say they were an option from BL. l don't ever remember seeing any SD1's shod with them, and I can't remember any special wheeltrims either. I tend to remember them because they were so bloody heavy. So are they shown in the brochure with the P6B trims then?
