DeDion - Oil Filler plug missing - DeDion - Oil Filler

The manual only covers off one type of tube with the oil filler plug at the top/back of the tube, I can't find a filler plug anywhere.

Is there more than one type of tube available and if so how do I check the oil level ?

Your car probably has the later 'greased for life' DeDion tube.
(post '73' cars).

Greased for life? I'm putting one back on the road after being stood for about nine years. It is a 77.

Will I have to do anything to mine?

Johnny,

You would probably want to strip the de dion down for an inspection any way.

You may find that water has got between the inner and outer tubes and may have some rust spots on it at best.

When you strip it have a good look at the elbows as they could be damaged on the inside which could lead to failure.

I am actually considering fitting a grease nipple to my, how long would you say the life of grease is.
