Complete re-spray panel by panel - new paint soflty softly

I am thinking of purchasing a P6, now one thing has occurred to me, is it possible to completely change the colour of a P6 panel by panel. I have scouted the internet for images and as far as I can see it seems very possible. The reason I am asking this is that at the moment I have no garage so any painting would have to be done in my shed (which isn’t big enough to accommodate a whole car but could easily take one panel at a time) any suggestions or theories greatly accepted

hi al,
it certainly is. there are 19 bolt on panels even the roof. so a complete colour change is no problem, the only thing you would have to paint outside or under some sort of cover is the base unit. if you are going to paint in the 'shed' use a damn good mask.

Thanks for that, just got to sell my golf and find a nice tax exempt P6! As for the mask I already have a heath robinson style resirator cobbled up from a Land Rover blower (even has the triangular mesh cover on the outside of the shed) a hoover pipe and an old twin filter respirator - one filter still intact hoover pipe goes to the other side - all powered by a 12v supply from my dads 1950s train set transformer - adjustable flow!
Seems to work ok apart from tha occasional farting noise if you have the air flow up too high and breathe out too hard! :)

I did that in dads garage a few years ago, the only extra tip I would add, and you probably already know, is to buy all the paint at the same time so you get the same colour all over!

good luck,

Matt
