Classic car weekly

Think those prices are more of a guide.
I paid best part of 10k for mine. It's not concours.. But is rust free ..complete. Only failed mot on a seized rear brake hinge pin. Just gets dusted once a week . Has radio mobile fitted..crap reception of course.
No work needed other than replacing bits as was stored for 13 years dry in a garage. So new tyres. Hoses , carb seals etc and it drives well , everything works ( after a new battery went in) only downside is lack of grunt...not yet sorted.. Carbs color tuned , new seals etc .
Seller refused to drop at all. So cost of finding another in same almost showroom condition versus time, condition etc of other cars I looked at made it a slightly over priced car but if I keep it for day a decade will be worth every pound.
At moment it's safely in garage as it's never used in rain. So not a lot of miles added to it's under 34,000 from new.
Bottom line is. Like in a car auction..price is dependant on seller and a buyer agreeing a value.
Prices are still low on rovers , fords over iced but again all subject like houses to market forces.
If nobody buys the cars ..we get low values. Another thing is data depends on price information for selling supplied to any publication.
Buyers like me doing so in private only agree a value with insurers. . So unless there's hundreds of rovers cheaply insured? We won't see ant real price gains. Sadly it's not seen as a fast car section like fords are and this buyers looking for a rid classic tend to ignore rovers.

I remember this car from about 12 years ago and it was very very nice. Lots of time spent on the paint. It was lovely.

I think that the guy whom is selling this is the same guy who is selling the £27k P5b coupe.

I thought the guide wasn't bad, and prices, well, any car's worth what someone's willing to pay.

As it is, I have no desire to own a concours car, and if I did, I'd just ruin it by using it, as a car. There are still lots of cheaper P6s about, but the constant discussion about prices is giving people daft ideas about values. As it is, I can't afford to buy another P6, for a long time. The increase in prices is fine for people coming from boring classics that get trotted to shows and back, but not so good for people who buy the cars to own and enjoy driving. Me, I'll wait for the next big market crash.
