to cut a long and dull story short,
why for me is it about £150 dearer to insure a 2ltr ford monedo tdci than a 3ltr vauxhall vectra cdti!
a vectra 1.9 cdti is £10 cheaper than a 3ltr vectra cdti
to complicate matters , if i use a named driver and put 'business' on the policy its £ 50 cheaper???
its embarrassing enough to admit to owning one of these but i just don't understand the reasoning behind their prices???
or am i just stupid>?

Insurance is mind boggling.

new cars might be worth more but have a lower insurance rating so cost less than an older car either with a smaller or larger engine.

I added my girlfriend and that dropped the premium although I have full NCB and Institute of Advanced Motorist membership.

just phone around and try and get the best price you can. They have us by the wotsits.....

Hi, Insurance companies work entirely on statistics so if one make or model is involved in more accidents than
another then you pay more. If you put a wife or girlfriend on it it shows you are more likely to be settling down
than a single man about town. If one star sign has more accidents than another they pay. Modern cars have
more safety features ABS, airbags etc but older cars might not do such high annual mileages. Parts prices aside
it cost the same in labour to repair or replace a wing on a classic as a modern.

Look at it from their side, How much would you want to cover my 18 year old nephew for damage to himself,
the car, or any third party driving a BMW.

P.S. I don't work for an insurance company.

i wish they;d work on my statistics! (not my dieting troubles!)
i've no no claims bonus because they are all on my van
no accidents, points or claims since god was a boy!
same with my p6's
i just pay it and they take it!
and it goes up!
grrrrrrr!
i reckon i could change a p6 wing quicker than a modern!
