Can you I D this part?

I put the car in the garage and I found this part on the drive where the car was parked :?

I have cleaned it to take a photo it was covered with grease.
It has broken off something, because the end as you look at the photo on bottom were the outer metal curls around is damaged not machine finish.
Can anybody I D it :?: It is stainless steel.
You cant tell by the photo but its about 1/4 of an inch deep.

i guess a part off a biro or something or came off some tool by accident and got lodged in there, bit of advertising for north wales there, rich

Anything like a DeDion tube gaiter clip?

Chris
I will get the car on the ramps later Chris and have a good look.
When you look at the photo the outer metal curls round at the bottom, it has snapped or broken off here because the end is rough not a machine finish.

Could it be a old set of contact points ?

It could be the spring from the moving point on a set of points, thats just been bent round on itself. I wouldn't worry yourself about it.

It's not an old distributor cap spring (the that holds down the cap) is it?

Hi Ian,
It is to small to be a cap spring,I think it is a old set of points because the size measures up to the ones fitted.

Looks like the tension spring mod clip that fits above the gear selector rod & up against remote housing. Used to try to eliminate buzz from gear stick. Would be about right size for it.Or maybe a home made alternative as part not available ( to my knowledge). Possibly made from old points as previously mentioned
