BW35 oil capacity

Hi all,
Can anybody tell me what the correct capacity is for refilling a BW35 transmission please, book says 8 litres but it sounded a little too much to me. My only auto experience is with GM180's which hold about a cupful in relative terms.
Many thanks,
Jon.

What are litres?

From memory 12 pints from dry incl the converter which guzzles about 7 of those. I think the 2000 and 2200 vary but only about 3/4 pint :)

Harvey will correct me with an accurate figure as I just top up till full

I'm sure it's 6 litres, can be quite pricy. I also found that I had to top mine up after a few 100 miles as the first fill 5 liters made it read as over full even after the procedure to make sure the torque converter was filled. But after a while it developed a whine at around 65mph. A top up fixed that. Always found it hard to read the oil level.

Hello Jon,

An empty BW35 will take 8.0 litres to fill which is 14 imperial pints. The difference between Low and High on the dip stick is approx 0.5 litres, so 1 pint. So a minimum of 7.5 litres and a maximum of 8.0 litres is required.

Ron.
