'Buzzing BW65

It always seems that as soon as one problem is sorted then another raises its head

The car is running really well now but the brakes needed bleeding so after bleeding them this afternoon ( I'd already moved the car out of the garage and onto the driveway to do the job and didn't hear anything) I took the car out for a test drive to check the brakes. They were fine but when I pulled up and put the it into 'park' with the engine running I could hear a loud buzzing coming from underneath

The car is driving ok and the shifts seem ok. The fluid level is fine but it buzzes when in 'park' or 'neutral' and not stationary in any other gear.

Any ideas?

Normal cause of that is a blocked filter.

Just recheck the fluid level, and make sure the fluid isn't aerated, and if they're both OK then the filter is the first thing to try.

Thanks Harvey,

I'll change the filter this time. Last year I tried to clean it. When I checked the fluid today it didn't appear aerated and was the correct colour.

Can you get a rubber gasket for the pan? Used a cork one last time.

I get the very same thing happening on my Triumph 2.5Pi Mike. It just does it in neutral and no other gear. It has the B-W 35 box which I really like for its simplicity, and suits the old Triumph. I must admit, I haven't changed the filter yet but I've removed the sump pan which revealed a very clean gearbox, and the filter looked like new. Though the gearbox still performs very well, I suspect the filter will have to be changed at some point.
