Button "Res. Pet."

Hello all,

I'am from The Netherlands, so sorry for my inclomplete English.

Since Friday I own a P6 (3,5 V8) from 1973.
I bought the car from somebody who was not the owner and he could not tell me much about the car.

For now, I almost found out everything myself. the only thing I don't know what it is or how it works, is a knob/button on the left of the choke. There is written "Res. Pet." on the button.

I'am afraid for doing stupid things, so first I'll ask on this forum: can anybody tell me what this button does and how it works? Thank you very much.

I tried to upload a picture, but the forum denied the picture.

By the way: I didnt know this car but after two days I'am already in love with it.

It's the petrol reserve. You pull that knob out if you feel the car running out of petrol, and there's that bit extra to get you to the garage.

^^^ Maybe

Hello and welcome :D

A 5 litres petrol container in my boot has been used a few times , even after pulling on the "Res" thingy on.
Res only works if there arent too many hills between the " pull" and the next fill station. Bit hard here in NZ
