Hi guys,

Is there a way to find out when a car was actually manufactured as opposed to registered? I would very much like some info on a certain car if possible?

Also what is the cut off date for black and white/silver plates?

Black and White/ silver can be fitted on cars manufactured before 1st January 1973

You probably are looking at a non tax exempt car.

https://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/app/home/intro
choose vehicle enquiry and enter details.

They will tell you the first registration date. If it is close to the cut off then you have a chance. I checked two of my cars and the exempt one has nothing but the non exempt car shows the VED rates under the main details.

You can pin it down by vin number to and approx build date.
