My '73 3500 is rusty beyond repair, and I've removed the engine and gearbox for use in my restoration project. I need as much space as possible in my garage, so I want to get rid of it now. I've stripped it very substantially. All that is still intact is the bare base unit sitting on its front and rear suspension, sans steering. I've swapped the PAS over to my resto car. Today I removed the dashboard and instruments, steering column, brake master and pedal, fuse box and wiring harness complete. I suppose I now need to get the car up on a high lift to remove the running gear. It is so long since I dismantled my resto project I can't remember how I did it! I want to retain the diff because it is a known good very low mileage unit I sourced and fitted not long before I retired the car. I'm wondering what I ought to retain for spares with an eye to the future, and what should I weigh in for scrap metal?
I'll keep the Sundym front windscreen as a spare, and the four good doors. I'll retain the brake discs. What bits and pieces ought I to store in case I need a replacement at some point in the future, and what is really redundant and can be disposed of along with the shell? For example I can see the point in saving the fusebox, switch panel and car alarm, but do I really need all the rest of the wiring loom I've just extricated? Gents, your thoughts please...
