Brake Light Switch

Hi guys I have a dodgy brake switch. 1972 P6b. No stop lights. Switch unit sits below the servo.
Listening to disappointment from others on here after getting a "new" after market replacement. These are not up to quality and break down in a short time.
I havn't removed the broken switch yet as others have said "swap over immediately" so as not to loose fluid.
Therefore I havn't had a chance to clean out any accumulated gunk in the unit should that be the cause. Have done the physical insitu test and it appears dodgy.
Im on the search for a 2nd hand unit off another era vehicle - any make or model. Ford Morris Rootes etc
Has anyone ever done an alternative vehicle search for this brake switch ? This would expand my view as to where to look in the 2nd hand dept.
yours
Gerald

Changed mine recently. Bought new one from Wins, fingers crossed, only been a month but no problems. I was very prepared for fluid loss, and so had the reservoir cap off, bottle fluid ready to top up, towels all around the switch, gingerly removed the old switch, popped in new switch, and lost perhaps two drops. Being so convinced it would need bled, I even filled up the new switch with fluid before fitting, all in, expected the worst, but for once it didn't happen!

I was very prepared for fluid loss, .....
I agree, last time I changed mine I did so at the side of the road, virtually nothing dropped out and no need to bleed the system.
However, if you seal the reservoir cap, by screwing the cap over a film of plastic, this will hold the fluid in the reservoir stopping it draining into the system.

My replacement pressure switch has recently required a firm push on the peddle to turn the lights on, so I'm in the process of fitting a Pedal Switch for Land Rover Defender, PartNo PRC4297
I'll wire it in parallel with the pressure switch so either will turn the lights on.

Hi Gerald,
Lucas part number: 34619 (in1980)!
Used on (of the era)
Aston Martin
Hillman imp (some) plus derivatives
Hillman hunter (some) plus derivatives
Lotus Europa
Late Rover P5
Loads of lightish commercials and motorbikes.
About £15 on ebay for new Lucas part (I think these are Lucas type boxes with whatever inside).
Should not be hard to source.
Info from the Lucas catalogue 1980.
