Its not a rover but I haven't seen one on the road in years, its been sitting for 14 years and a little rough around the edges, I pulled it out the garage last night the first time it had turned a wheel in years, pictures are not the best but from my phone

the wife thinks I am mad

i had 4 opel mantas as a youth. I loved them. They just drive so well. Good luck with it. Chassis rails, bulkheads and battery trays are the really bad areas to sort if i remember rightly.

They're extremely light (with the 1.8 engine anyway)... 950kg iirc so a rover v8 should end up around a minimum of 120bhp/ton....

Rich.

I have given it a quick clean and poked a few holes in it, seeing if its worth saving as unlike rovers spares are not easy to get hold off, the engine in it at the moment is a red top 16v and has a print out showing 190bhp at the wheels so would be fun, I paid £250 for it so wont loose what ever I decide.

They were never sold in Australia.

The printout that you have showing 190HP at the wheels I dare say is likely to be extremely optimistic, but as you say, should be fun.

Ron.

From what i've seen 190bhp in a manta is extremely possible with that engine Ron... It'll all be top end though. £250 makes it well worth it unless there's no floor pan... They're going up in value - you couldnt get one as cheaply as a p6.

after doing a small amount of digging I have come to the conclusion we have know idea how lucky we are with our P6's, parts for this thing are either non existent or at a huge premium, most supplier's are non English speaking and my Dutch and German is very thin on the ground, nein and ya and im out, I think I will now fit my new stainless exhaust and propshaft to the rover, easy parts to get hold of.
