hello I have a 1970 3500 series one auto and have tried to identify the gearbox i think its a 35 the car is right hand drive and the dipstick for transmission fluid is on Drivers side
My problem
The car goes up the gearbox selecting all gears goes into top under light throttle at about 38 mph and goes backwards ok but when i select park the engine revs increase and no drive which is what i would expect but the car will roll when in park and should not the car will also not start in park only neutral any help would be greatful thank you

That is a BW35. If you disconnect the selector rod that attaches to the lever on the gearbox, and turn the lever fully clockwise, then that will select PARK, if PARK selects and locks the propshaft then the linkage is out of adjustment, and that would also explain why it only starts in NEUTRAL. If it doesn't lock the prop then the pawl inside the box is most likely broken.

thank you I will give it a try

Hi Just an update when i got the car I did take a chance as I knew the park did not work so was hoping it was just the adjustment
and it was there was a lot of slack in the linkage so took that out and now starting and locking drive shaft in park so that was a nice easy fix I will go through the posts to see if there is an easy way to adjust the linkage as it is not perfect yet gear selector inside the car not lined up perfect but working
The manual shows adjusting using measurement and due to the difficulty in getting to all the connecting rods I might need to make up some rods to correct length as I think a tape measure will be to awkward to use
Many thanks for above advice
